On Route 66

The amazing thing about Route 66 is that it contains both the old and the new. There are abandoned ghost towns right next to thriving metropolises. And, often even the thriving metropolises contain a glimpse of abandonment. This church building we explored in Tulsa, OK was utterly glorious. After seeing nothing but roofs caved in and broken windows, this statuesque and elegant artifice was nothing short of extraordinary.

Only a few miles outside of Tulsa, we were back to the run-down, abandoned ghost towns of Route 66 complete with gas stations that were in such disarray and cars that looked so sad and pathetic trapped behind broken garage windows, never to be driven again.
