It may be cliche to say, but the grand canyon really is nothing short of grand. The view is so vast and extraordinary that it is difficult to believe what you are seeing. My senses could not take it all in.
Interestingly, all I could think about when I was at the Grand Canyon was the fact that it looked like a painting. However, shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t paintings remind you of the real locations? We are all inundated with images on a daily basis. We are so constantly being barraged by visual media: either on screen, on tv, billboards, magazine images, and books that we don’t realize the importance of seeing the “real thing” with our own eyes. You cannot fully experience a place until you have been there in person: breathing the air, feeling the wind on your face, and viewing the vast canyon with your feet dangling off the surface of a rock.Only then can you truly appreciate this breathtakingly beautiful world we live in.
