A boat in port is safe…

…but that’s not what boats are made for.

How many of us are stuck in the port, afraid to make our way out into the open sea? We lead lives that are safe: a comfortable home, a stable job, the latest and greatest technology, and yet something is still missing. If we are not constantly challenging ourselves, growing, and moving out of our comfort zone, we never witness our true potential. We never know what we might be capable of until we have the courage to try. Yes, it is scary out there on the open sea. Storms are inevitable. Rough waters lie ahead. But, if you never brave these uncharted territories, you will never see the beauty of a sunrise on the open ocean. You will never enjoy the adventure of getting lost and finding yourself in a new place. You will never see and experience anything new. Sometimes it takes leaving the safe and comfortable to truly find yourself.

#bestrongin2015 challenge day 2: Navasana/boat pose. “A boat in port is safe, but that’s not what boats are made for.” As the holiday winds down and I finish up two weeks of sleeping, resting, rejuvenating, and visiting with friends and family, I prepare myself to return to work, singing, and my normal hectic yet wonderful life. I am ready to go back out into the open waters and see what new adventures lie in wait.
